Mumbai, April 21: Senior Congress leader Hussain Dalwai from Maharashtra has responded to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks made during an election rally in West Bengal. Dalwai stated that if Adityanath had performed well in Uttar Pradesh, people from the state would not be seeking employment in Maharashtra.
In an interview with a news agency in Mumbai, Dalwai accused CM Yogi of deliberately making statements against Muslims, asserting that he lacks a vision for development.
He emphasized that instead of focusing on farmers, laborers, and education, Adityanath continuously raises Hindu-Muslim issues. Dalwai urged the Chief Minister to prioritize effective governance in Uttar Pradesh, so that the impoverished residents do not have to migrate to Maharashtra in search of jobs.
Dalwai also supported West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s comments regarding Prime Minister Modi, claiming that Modi aims to dominate West Bengal by employing various strategies.
Regarding the BJP, Dalwai remarked that while they frequently discuss the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), they fail to consider women’s issues, instead perpetuating Hindu-Muslim debates.
He recalled that when Dr. B.R. Ambedkar introduced the Hindu Code Bill, it faced opposition from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and his associates, leading to Ambedkar’s resignation. Later, Jawaharlal Nehru presented it in parts. Dalwai urged that before discussing women’s rights and civil codes, the BJP should ensure equality for women within their own homes and provide them with more electoral tickets.
In response to Adityanath’s comments in Bengal, Dalwai stated that the Chief Minister is misrepresenting facts, asserting that no one opposes the mention of Lord Ram. He accused them of intentionally making such statements without any substantial basis.
