Nagpur, April 15: Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe referenced a previous statement by JP Nadda, who claimed in 2023 that no regional party would survive after 2024.
In an interview with a news agency on Wednesday, he likened the BJP to a snake, suggesting that the party observes how long it takes to consume another party before strategically positioning itself. He stated that when the BJP feels hungry, it swallows the party whole, a fate he believes has befallen Nitish Kumar.
Londhe remarked on the unexpected turn of events following Kumar’s resignation as Chief Minister, leading him to the Rajya Sabha. He asserted that the BJP has a firm grip on Kumar’s son, indicating that the party has orchestrated a plan to eliminate the JD(U) in Bihar.
He expressed confidence that the current political climate in Bihar suggests the BJP is poised to dismantle the JD(U), having already scripted a comprehensive plan for this outcome.
Additionally, Londhe mentioned a Congress meeting regarding women’s reservation. He confirmed that a multi-party meeting would discuss all aspects related to this issue.
He criticized the central government for attempting to use the Nari Shakti Vandan Act as a pretext for redistricting, arguing that this would harm the interests of the southern states and SC/ST communities, which cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
Londhe also pointed out that if the BJP were genuinely committed to women’s empowerment, it would have implemented the Nari Vandan Act in 2024, as Congress had previously requested. He lamented that the act has been systematically sidelined, with the BJP claiming it would be enacted after the census. Now, he questioned the urgency behind the government’s recent actions in this regard.
When asked about the acceptance of Samrat Chaudhary by the people of Bihar in the coming days, Londhe stated that only time will tell. He raised concerns about Chaudhary’s educational qualifications and age discrepancies, suggesting that he provided false information in his affidavit to the Election Commission. Londhe concluded that it is evident that Chaudhary is a bundle of lies, and the public’s acceptance remains uncertain.
