
Jaipur, April 15: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced on Wednesday that the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ is a historic step towards enhancing women’s participation in politics. This legislation ensures a 33% reservation for women in both Parliament and state assemblies.
While addressing the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ at Birla Auditorium, Chief Minister Sharma stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, this law will empower women to actively contribute to governance, policy-making, education, and national security.
He urged women to express their support for the act by giving a missed call to a dedicated number.
Emphasizing the importance of women’s roles in nation-building, CM Sharma noted that India’s cultural tradition has always prioritized women’s empowerment. He highlighted that women are excelling not only in managing households but also in sectors such as startups, education, sports, science, and law enforcement.
The Chief Minister credited the central government for initiating several programs aimed at uplifting women, including the Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and Swachh Bharat Mission. He stated that these initiatives have improved women’s economic participation, dignity, and overall quality of life. Sharma reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring women’s safety and dignity.
He revealed that over 2 million women have received training through various initiatives, resulting in more than 1.6 million ‘Lakhpati Didis.’
Programs like the Lado Protsahan Yojana have benefited over 650,000 girls, while the financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana has been increased to ₹6,500.
Additionally, he mentioned the deployment of 600 Kalika Patrol Units and 65 Anti-Romeo Squads to enhance women’s safety, along with providing LPG subsidies and free travel on special occasions.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari stated that women’s empowerment is a central focus of both state and central government policies.
She described the reservation law as a historic reform that will ensure women’s voices are heard in decision-making and governance.
The event was attended by ministers, MPs, officials, and a large number of women and students.
