Completion of Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur Ganga Bridge Project Expected by Early July

Patna, June 8: The Secretary of the Bihar Public Works Department, Pankaj Kumar Pal, inspected the construction of the Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane Ganga bridge project on Sunday. He announced that the project has entered its final stages, with completion expected by the first week of July.

This project is crucial for Bihar’s transport infrastructure, significantly enhancing connectivity between the capital, Patna, and North Bihar.

During the inspection, the Secretary praised the quality of work and instructed the construction agency and engineers involved to ensure there are no delays in the final phase. He emphasized adhering to all technical standards to guarantee the project is completed on time for public use.

The six-lane greenfield bridge spans 19.76 kilometers over the Ganga River, connecting Kachhi Dargah on National Highway 30 in Patna district to Bidupur on National Highway 103 in Vaishali district. The project includes a 9.76-kilometer bridge and 10 kilometers of access roads.

Currently, the physical work on the project is 98.1% complete. Finishing touches, stressing of expansion joints, and other technical tasks are underway.

The first phase of the project, connecting Kachhi Dargah, Patna, to Raghopur Dihara in Vaishali (total length 4.57 kilometers), has already been inaugurated. This six-lane bridge will link Sabalpur in Patna directly to NH-103 (Bidupur) and connect seamlessly to the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur bypass (NH-30).

The Secretary stated that the completion of the Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane Ganga bridge will provide uninterrupted road connectivity for the residents of the region to Patna. This will accelerate the development of agriculture, industry, and other businesses in the area.

Upon completion, the project will not only provide an additional route across the Ganga River but also facilitate smoother traffic towards Hajipur and Samastipur. This will reduce travel time and alleviate pressure on the Gandhi Setu once the six-lane bridge to Bidupur is operational.
