Patna, August 4 (H.S.) – A complaint has been filed against Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav at the Digha police station in Patna in connection with possessing two voter identity cards (EPICs). The complaint, submitted by local advocate Rajeev Ranjan, accuses Tejashwi of holding two voter IDs within the same assembly constituency, which is a punishable electoral offence.

According to Digha Police Station SHO Santosh Kumar, they have received the complaint and are currently verifying the matter. No FIR has been registered yet.

The complaint stems from the recent draft voter list released on August 1 as part of the preparations for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Advocate Ranjan claims that Tejashwi Yadav‘s name appears twice in the list with two different EPIC numbers in the same constituency.

This development follows a notice issued earlier by the Election Commission (EC) to Tejashwi Yadav. The EC stated that the voter ID shown by Tejashwi during his press conference on Saturday, where he claimed his name was missing from the rolls, was never officially issued. The ID number he showcased — RAB2916120 — was not found in official records.

In contrast, the EC clarified that Tejashwi is validly listed at Polling Booth No. 204 of the Bihar Animal Sciences University, holding the EPIC number RAB0456228, which was used during both the 2015 and 2020 state elections.

During his press meet, Tejashwi had demonstrated a failed online search for his voter details using the now-questioned EPIC number. This discrepancy prompted the legal complaint, with Advocate Ranjan alleging that possession of two EPICs constitutes a criminal offence under electoral law.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has asked Tejashwi Yadav to submit all relevant documents, including the EPIC number shared in the press conference, for verification and further investigation.
