Lucknow, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : During the anniversary celebrations of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath discussed the institution’s journey, the importance of transparency in recruitment, and the expansion of healthcare services in Uttar Pradesh. He compared the state of affairs before and after 2017, outlining his government’s achievements.
CM Yogi remarked, “In 2017, we faced the question of whether this would remain a regular hospital or transform into an institution. At that time, there was uncertainty and discord. It was decided that it would become an institution, allowing those who wished to join to do so, while others could transfer to the health department or other hospitals.”
He stressed the significance of a transparent recruitment process, noting that a single flawed hiring decision could jeopardize the institution’s reputation. “The more transparent the recruitment process, the more beneficial the outcomes will be for us. If we fail to select the right candidates, if there are irregularities or biases, the entire institution pays the price for that error,” he explained.
Reflecting on his government’s hiring record, the Chief Minister stated, “In the past nine to nine and a half years, our government has provided jobs to 950,000 youths in Uttar Pradesh. This is a substantial number, and nobody can claim there was discrimination or corruption in the hiring process.”
Highlighting the geographical significance of the RML Institute, CM Yogi noted, “When patients from eastern Uttar Pradesh seek treatment for the first time, they often come to this institute. Previously, many patients requiring regular dialysis visited here. Today, the facilities have expanded significantly.”
He also shared his experience advocating for more medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh during his tenure as a Member of Parliament. “Before 2017, I often raised the need to increase the number of medical colleges, but that number was stagnant. We submitted a proposal to the central government, and when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, we presented it to him as well.”
CM Yogi revealed that PM Modi took the demand seriously, approving 17 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh and an AIIMS for Gorakhpur in the first phase. “Today, we have witnessed unprecedented growth in medical education in Uttar Pradesh, directly benefiting the public,” he concluded.
