Mumbai, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Central Home Minister Amit Shah’s upcoming two-day visit to Maharashtra has drawn criticism from the state’s Congress chief, Harshvardhan Sapkal. On September 17, Shah is set to launch a “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,” but Sapkal argues that the initiative is merely a political tactic aimed at economic gain.
Speaking to the media, Sapkal highlighted the severe drought conditions affecting farmers across Maharashtra. He urged the central government to provide immediate relief, including a complete waiver of loans for impacted farmers and compensation of ₹50,000 per hectare for crop losses.
“If Amit Shah truly wants to serve the people of Maharashtra, he should announce full loan waivers and compensation of ₹50,000 per hectare immediately,” Sapkal stated. “Otherwise, this visit is nothing more than a political maneuver to address corruption issues.”
Sapkal also questioned the motives behind this high-profile visit. He accused the ruling coalition of transferring valuable land to industrialists and demanded accountability for funds related to events like the Kumbh Mela.
Additionally, he criticized the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership, labeling the RSS’s recent “liberal” stance as insincere. He claimed that the RSS harbors questionable views on the Constitution and the national flag, while concealing its core principles outlined in M.S. Golwalkar’s book, “Bunch of Thoughts.”
Sapkal pointed out the contradiction between the BJP-RSS’s anti-Muslim stance domestically and Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s acceptance of top civilian honors from over ten Islamic nations abroad. He called on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to clarify the organization’s stance on the Constitution and its political agenda regarding minority communities.
