CJP Withdraws September 5 Protest: Rashid Alvi Questions Conditions Accepted

New Delhi, September 3: Congress leader Rashid Alvi has raised questions regarding the CJP’s decision to withdraw the proposed protest scheduled for September 5.

In an exclusive conversation with a news agency, Alvi stated that the organization must clarify to the public why it suddenly decided to cancel the protest after receiving support from the opposition. He emphasized that withdrawing the protest without explanation raises doubts about the organization’s credibility.

Alvi pointed out that the primary concern is the reason behind the withdrawal, especially after the announcement of the protest and the backing from opposition parties. He argued that if political motives are at play, the public deserves to know the rationale behind such decisions. Announcing a protest one day and retracting it the next is not a standard political practice and can lead to public skepticism.

The Congress leader criticized the BJP and its government for employing various political tactics. He suggested that the withdrawal of the protest only increases suspicion. The CJP should clarify the reasons and circumstances that led to the cancellation of the September 5 protest.

When asked if there is any coordination between the CJP and the BJP, Alvi refrained from making direct claims but insisted that the CJP has a responsibility to explain the reasons for retracting the protest. He stressed that the most pressing issue is not about alleged coordination but rather the need for transparency regarding the withdrawal.

Alvi stated that if the CJP has specific conditions that the BJP has accepted, the organization should disclose which conditions were met. While the BJP praises the CJP, the situation remains unclear regarding those against whom FIRs have been filed.

He questioned why there is no protest concerning individuals facing action, arrests, or alleged harassment of their families. Alvi warned that failing to address these issues could further undermine the CJP’s credibility. The organization must clarify why it decided to withdraw the protest and what its current stance is on the issues that were initially raised.
