Congress to Stage Protests Across Bihar in Support of Kharge, Sending 7,000 Workers to Delhi Rally
Congress plans statewide protests in Bihar to support Kharge, sending 7,000 members to a rally in Delhi on November 1.

Patna, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : In the midst of a political controversy surrounding Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram has accused the BJP of double standards. He asserted that Kharge’s statements are being unnecessarily exaggerated, while the BJP has remained silent on the disrespectful treatment he received previously. Ram clarified that the individual who disrupted Kharge’s speech was not a member of the Congress party.
Ram emphasized two key points regarding Kharge’s comments. During his speech, an individual interrupted, which he described as an unfortunate incident rather than a significant political issue. He referenced a similar incident at Kharge’s rally in Haldwani, questioning why the BJP did not respond to the situation when it involved notions of purity and impurity at the venue. If responses are warranted when someone’s feelings are hurt, both incidents should elicit equal reactions, he argued.
He praised Kharge as one of the country’s senior and experienced leaders, stating that the controversy surrounding the incident is unwarranted. Ram accused the BJP of failing to respond adequately to issues like caste discrimination while being quick to protest in other cases. He pointed out that derogatory comments have been made about Kharge’s images, and BJP leaders have often used offensive language against Congress figures, particularly Rahul Gandhi.
Ram questioned why there is no consideration for the feelings of Congress leaders when they face similar derogatory remarks. He cited past controversial statements made by the Prime Minister and other leaders, stressing that political parties should respect the sentiments of others just as they expect respect for their own leaders. He noted that Bihar’s vernacular includes various expressions and that understanding the context of Kharge’s speech is crucial before escalating disputes.
He reiterated that the individual who disrupted Kharge’s meeting was not a Congress worker, as he had never seen him at party events. Despite reviewing social media images, the individual’s identity remains unclear. If he were affiliated with Congress, he would have been recognized by now.
Ram asserted that protesting is a democratic right for Congress, just as it is for others. He stated that while Congress does not question anyone’s right to protest, such actions should be conducted democratically. Protests will be organized throughout Bihar in support of Kharge, with preparations underway to send 7,000 members to the rally in Delhi on November 1. This opposition is not merely about a single statement but also addresses the methods of protest and political conduct. He criticized the BJP for prioritizing the feelings of its leaders while disregarding similar offensive comments directed at Congress members.
