G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting Scheduled for October 30-31 in Atlanta, Hosted by Marco Rubio
The G20 foreign ministers meeting will focus on economic security and global challenges, hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Atlanta.

Atlanta, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting on October 30 and 31 in Atlanta. The U.S. State Department announced the event on Monday. Key agenda items include “freedom of navigation,” energy and food security, and threats to supply chains.
This meeting marks the last major ministerial gathering before the G20 leaders’ summit scheduled for December, which will be hosted by President Donald Trump in Miami.
According to the State Department, the U.S. aims to steer the G20 back to its fundamental economic objectives under President Trump’s leadership. The focus is on promoting economic growth, enhancing economic security, and achieving tangible results for the American people.
Foreign ministers from the world’s largest economies will participate, discussing ways to enhance practical cooperation on shared economic and security challenges. The U.S. has prioritized issues such as maritime route freedom, energy security, food security, and strengthening supply chains in the meeting’s agenda.
The department stated that the U.S. will engage with G20 partner countries to address geopolitical crises affecting the global economy. These include risks related to maritime transit security, energy and food supply, and disruptions in supply chains.
The discussions are expected to lay the groundwork for the G20 leaders’ summit and its broader economic agenda. The State Department has highlighted Atlanta as a significant global hub for diplomacy, connectivity, and trade.
However, the department has not yet released a list of all participating foreign ministers or a detailed schedule for bilateral meetings.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is likely to attend the meeting. There is also anticipation for a Quad meeting involving the foreign ministers of India, the U.S., Japan, and Australia during the event. The emphasis on maritime route freedom and energy security comes at a time of uncertainty in global fuel markets due to U.S. military actions against Iran. Strengthening supply chains has been a key area of collaboration between India and the U.S., with ongoing discussions within the Quad group.
In May, the U.S. State Department announced that the Atlanta meeting would focus on strengthening international cooperation, addressing global economic challenges, promoting open markets, and establishing robust supply chains.
The U.S. holds the G20 presidency in 2026, prioritizing affordable and secure energy and technological innovation. The G20 leaders’ summit will take place on December 14 and 15 at the Trump National Doral in Miami.
The G20 comprises 19 countries, the European Union, and the African Union, representing a significant portion of global economic activity and trade. India held the G20 presidency in 2023.
