Jaipur, 7 December: Following directions from the Police Headquarters, Churu Police conducted two significant operations against the gangs led by Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan, resulting in the arrest of two active gang members. These actions mark a direct strike against criminal networks involved in illegal extortion and creating a climate of fear in society.

Churu District Superintendent of Police, Jai Yadav, revealed that in the first operation, Ratanagar police uncovered a case involving a jeweller who was extorted for ₹50 lakh. On 4 September 2025, jeweller Hariram Prajapat received a call from an international number where the caller claimed to be Virendra Charan from Rohit Godara’s gang, demanding ₹50 lakh as ransom and threatening harm if the demand was not met.

Top Extortionist Arrested in Jeweller Threat Case

Under the leadership of Station Officer Gaurav Khidiya, the police team conducted in-depth investigations using both technical and human intelligence. Earlier, Umar Farukh Khan, an active gang member, was arrested. Continuing the probe, they apprehended Girdhari Lal alias Vikas Kumar (20), a top-10 gangster from Bhaniapura, on 7 December.

Further disclosures revealed that local gangsters like Girdhari Lal collect names, addresses, and phone numbers of wealthy individuals, traders, and jewellers through social media and pass the information to gang leaders hiding abroad. These leaders then call victims to demand ransom under threat of physical harm, while local gang members handle the collection of money and transportation of illegal weapons.

AGTF Scores Major Success: ‘Boxer’ Gang Member Caught Before Escape

The second major breakthrough came from Churu’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), which arrested Amit alias Golu alias Boxer, a childhood friend of Rohit Godara gang member Naveen Boxer, from Delhi. Amit had a ₹5,000 reward on his head and had been absconding for eight years.

Led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Abhijit Patil, the AGTF closely monitored Amit’s movements, hideouts, and network. Acting on solid information, the team raided Delhi and successfully arrested him. Amit had been evading court appearances since 2017 and was attempting to flee abroad via the Donkey route over the past two years.

Amit, a resident of Gauripur, Sadar Police Station, Bhiwani, Haryana, was involved in a highway robbery in 2016 along with Naveen Boxer in the Salasar police jurisdiction. After obtaining bail, he remained a fugitive since 2017. Police foiled his attempts to escape abroad. Further interrogation of the accused and investigation into their network’s other active members is ongoing.
