Bulawayo, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : South Africa triumphed over Zimbabwe in the fourth T20 match held in Bulawayo, winning by 80 runs. This victory grants the visitors an unassailable 4-0 lead in the five-match series.
The series began with South Africa winning the first match by six wickets, followed by a 64-run victory in the second. They solidified their dominance by winning the third match by 80 runs. The final match of the series is scheduled for September 19 at the same venue.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, South Africa scored 205 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. Miyaane Smith formed a strong opening partnership with Anneke Bosch, accumulating 74 runs in just 8.3 overs. Bosch contributed 33 runs off 24 balls, hitting seven boundaries before being dismissed.
Smith continued to build momentum, adding 62 runs with Annerie Dercksen for the second wicket. Dercksen scored 33 runs from 16 balls, featuring five boundaries. Smith’s impressive innings of 102 runs came off 59 balls, including 15 fours and a six. For Zimbabwe, Nyasha Gwanzura, Francisca Chipare, and Laurin Firi each took one wicket.
In response, Zimbabwe managed only 125 runs while losing five wickets in their 20 overs. The team faced an early setback, losing Gwanzura for just five runs. Despite a partnership of 16 runs with Kelis Ndhlovu and 26 runs with Biza, Zimbabwe struggled, losing four wickets for just 87 runs.
