Chirag Paswan Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Distracting Attention with Protests

Mumbai, August 22: Union Minister Chirag Paswan has labeled Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s protests as an attempt to divert attention from the national anthem, “Vande Mataram.”

During a press interaction on Saturday, Paswan stated that while it is undeniable that everyone has the right to protest on any issue in a democracy, Gandhi’s actions are merely a distraction from the pressing concerns of the nation, which the public is increasingly aware of.

Commenting on the protests at Jantar Mantar, Paswan emphasized that Gandhi’s planned references to this issue after several days are troubling. He asserted that the Congress party’s actions have hurt the sentiments of millions across the country. He expressed little concern, noting that Congress has historically sought to divert public attention from fundamental issues.

Paswan further remarked that such actions disrupt parliamentary proceedings, hindering discussions on critical matters. He noted that numerous topics could have been addressed, but Congress’s contradictory stance has led to interruptions in legislative sessions. He advised Congress to improve its position if it hopes to see any positive changes in its political standing; otherwise, it will continue to face disappointment.

Additionally, Paswan responded to Tejashwi Yadav’s protests in Patna, expressing his support for the young leader’s right to voice concerns. He encouraged Yadav to raise issues directly with the government, emphasizing the importance of communication. He suggested that it would have been more effective if Yadav had raised these matters while the parliament was in session.

On the ongoing reservation movement in Delhi, Paswan acknowledged that it is a sensitive topic that could incite public anger. He stressed the importance of dialogue with the government to address the protesters’ demands, noting that economic reservations have already been implemented by the current administration.

Paswan also commented on the rising prices of onions and sugar, labeling the situation a concern for the government. He mentioned ongoing discussions aimed at controlling prices, acknowledging that expected production levels have not been met. However, he remains optimistic that these challenges can be managed moving forward.
