Beijing, August 23: The inauguration ceremony for the Ambor-Kaolack highway project, constructed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation, took place on August 22 in the city of Thiadiaye, located in Senegal’s western Thies region.
Senegalese President Basiru Diomaye Faye attended the ceremony. In his speech, he highlighted that this highway project symbolizes the strong ties between Senegal and China. It is crucial for facilitating movement for the people in Senegal’s central region and improving connectivity with other parts of the country. Originally scheduled for completion by the end of September, the project has been opened to traffic ahead of time.
During the event, President Faye expressed gratitude for the support from the Chinese side. He reaffirmed Senegal’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with China and advancing cooperation between the two nations.
The Ambor-Kaolack highway connects the western coastal city of Ambor to the central city of Kaolack, spanning a total length of 99.2 kilometers.
