Chinas Industrial Digitization Leads Globally: German Research Report

Beijing, March 29: A recent report titled ‘2026 Industry 4.0 Barometer,’ jointly released by Munich University and consulting firm MHP, reveals that China’s industrial digitization level is leading the world. The report highlights China’s exceptional performance in areas such as digital twin technology, artificial intelligence, supply chain transparency, and automation.

The report indicates a steady increase in the level of digitization across the global industrial sector. The related barometer index has risen from 48% in 2022 to the current 68%. China has reached 72%, marking a 3 percentage point increase from the previous year, while the United States stands at 69%. India and Mexico follow closely at 68% and 67%, respectively.

Professor Johann Kranz from Munich University, specializing in digital services and sustainable development, noted that Chinese and American companies are quicker in applying digital production technologies compared to other nations.

The report also highlights that digital twin technology is rapidly becoming one of the most developed technologies in the industrial sector, with Chinese companies clearly leading in its application, particularly in logistics. Chinese firms are also at the forefront of adopting artificial intelligence in industrial production.

This analysis is based on responses from over 1,200 representatives of industrial companies worldwide, primarily from the mechanical and equipment engineering, information and communication technology, and automotive industries.
