
Beijing, March 9: On March 9, the second “Ministerial Corridor” of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. During this event, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Han Jun addressed journalists.
Han Jun highlighted that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), significant improvements have been made in China’s agricultural technology and equipment. The modernization of agriculture has reached a new level, with the contribution rate of agricultural science and technology exceeding 64%. The availability of high-quality seeds has surpassed 96%, while the mechanization rate for planting, cultivation, and harvesting has reached 76.7%, achieving full mechanization for major crops.
According to Han Jun, the intelligent and digital transformation of agriculture in China is also progressing rapidly. Various smart tools are playing a crucial role in agricultural production. By 2025, over 300,000 drones are expected to be utilized in the agricultural sector, the highest in the world, servicing approximately 30.7 million hectares of arable land. Currently, intelligent harvesting robots, smart irrigation robots, and AI laser weed control robots are also beginning to be implemented in agriculture.
