Chief Minister Yogi Pays Tribute to Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna on His Birth Anniversary

Lucknow, April 25: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to former Chief Minister Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna on his birth anniversary. He offered floral tributes at Bahuguna’s statue located at the Planning Department.

The Chief Minister remarked that Bahuguna was a significant pillar of Indian politics. Born on April 25, 1919, in the then Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand) in Pauri Garhwal, Bahuguna pursued his early education in his village before moving to Prayagraj for higher studies. From 1942 to 1946, he actively participated in the Quit India Movement, led by Mahatma Gandhi, which resulted in his imprisonment by the British government.

Yogi noted that Bahuguna made a lasting impact as a prominent student leader at Allahabad University. He remained actively involved in the country’s freedom struggle. Following independence, he became a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the first general elections of 1952. He also had the opportunity to serve as a minister in the state government, contributing significantly in various departments and as Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Bahuguna had a vision for the development of Uttar Pradesh, which continues to be effectively realized today. He also served in several ministries at the central government level. His long political and public service is commendable and serves as an inspiration for the current generation.

Yogi Adityanath shared a post on this occasion, stating, “On the birth anniversary of the significant pillar of Indian politics, former Chief Minister Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, I paid floral tributes at his statue in Lucknow today. His commendable services in the Uttar Pradesh government and various ministries of the central government continue to guide us. His vision for development is being realized today. I pay my respects to the sacred memories of Bahuguna.”
