Jaipur, May 21: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the remote tribal village of Chura in Banswara district on Thursday. Under the state government’s ‘Village Development Chaupal’ initiative, he engaged directly with villagers, listened to their concerns, and reviewed their developmental needs.
After setting up the Chaupal the previous night, the Chief Minister returned early Thursday morning to walk through the village streets, meeting locals and understanding their sentiments.
During this visit, CM Sharma emphasized that the state government is working to realize Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s vision of Antyodaya, ensuring that welfare schemes and development reach the poorest and most remote sections of society.
He stated that the government’s top priority is to extend development to the last mile. He also noted that the Village Development Chaupal has become an effective means of resolving issues through dialogue.
The Chief Minister held the Chaupal under a Peepal tree, where villagers raised concerns regarding water supply, infrastructure, and local development.
Responding promptly, CM Sharma directed the district administration to construct a small dam on the Hiran River to improve irrigation and drinking water facilities in the area.
He also visited the ‘Maa Bari Center,’ interacted lovingly with children, and distributed chocolates among them. The Chief Minister encouraged the children to pursue their studies and urged villagers to keep youth away from substance abuse.
During discussions, staff members raised complaints about alleged financial irregularities involving Dr. Girish Bhabhor, the Chief Medical Officer of the Kushalgarh block. Taking this matter seriously, CM Sharma instructed officials to initiate immediate action. Following his directives, the medical department placed Dr. Bhabhor under ‘Awaiting Posting Orders’ (APO).
Addressing villagers and farmers, CM Sharma stressed the importance of water conservation and sustainable farming. He remarked that there is no substitute for water and urged farmers to adopt micro-irrigation, rainwater harvesting, pond construction, and modern agricultural practices.
He also encouraged farmers to integrate animal husbandry with agriculture to increase their income, highlighting that fruit cultivation could serve as a significant source of additional earnings while contributing to environmental protection.
The Chief Minister appealed to villagers to turn water conservation into a people’s movement through community participation.
During a tea discussion with villagers, he approved several local development requests on the spot. He sanctioned ₹16.20 lakh for the construction of the ‘Maa Bari Center’ in Thummath village, ₹20 lakh for a single-phase tubewell at Thummath Chauraha, and ₹7 lakh for interlocking and beautification work at the ‘Maa Baleshwar Dayal Temple Complex’ in Chura village.
He also directed officials to construct two classrooms in the government school and establish a milk collection center near the village.
In another case, CM Sharma acted on a request from Roshni Kalal, who sought the transfer of her husband, Hemant Kumar Kalal (an Assistant Engineer in the Public Health Engineering Department), from Sagwara to Banswara to meet their son’s cerebral palsy treatment needs. The Chief Minister instructed officials to transfer him to the office of the ‘Executive Engineer’ in Banswara, after which the transfer orders were issued.
Earlier, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the statue of Sant Mama Baleshwar Dayal.
