Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar Visits Yamunotri, Receives Grand Welcome in Kharsali

Uttarkashi, May 24: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar arrived at the world-famous Yamunotri Dham on Sunday as part of the Char Dham Yatra. He assessed the arrangements for the Yamunotri pilgrimage upon landing at the Kharsali helipad in Uttarkashi district. In anticipation of his arrival, local authorities implemented strict security measures and arrangements in the Kharsali area.

Gyanesh Kumar received a warm welcome at the Kharsali helipad. He was greeted with flower bouquets by Uttarakhand’s Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande, District Magistrate Prashant Arya, and Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Upadhyay, along with other senior administrative officials.

During the welcome, the Chief Election Commissioner was briefed on the current arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra, including passenger facilities, health services, security measures, and emergency preparedness. Officials also informed him about the challenges faced along the pilgrimage route and their proposed solutions.

After arriving in Kharsali, Gyanesh Kumar proceeded to Yamunotri Dham. The local administration was fully alert for his visit, ensuring tight security along the entire route from the Kharsali helipad to Yamunotri Dham. Adequate police presence was deployed, along with officials and staff from various departments.

Administrative officials indicated that this visit by the Chief Election Commissioner is considered highly significant. It aims to conduct a high-level review of the smooth operation of the Char Dham Yatra, passenger safety, and improved facilities. Given the increasing crowd during the pilgrimage season, there is a strong emphasis on enhancing all arrangements.

From early morning, officials and staff were actively present at the Kharsali helipad, meticulously inspecting the arrangements in the helipad area and its surroundings. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm among officials and local staff during the Chief Election Commissioner’s welcome.
