Raipur, June 6: Chhattisgarh’s Health Minister, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, addressed the media on Saturday, discussing various issues related to health, politics, and organization. He provided an update on the state’s preparations regarding the Ebola virus and criticized the Congress party and other opposition groups.
Minister Jaiswal stated that the state government initiated necessary preparations about a month ago. He noted that cases of the Ebola virus have emerged in African countries, with approximately 250 to 300 positive cases reported. In Durg, three foreign nationals have been placed in isolation for 21 days as a precaution. These individuals arrived from Congo, Ethiopia, and another African nation. So far, tests have shown no symptoms of Ebola, and no suspicious signs have been detected, but they are being monitored for safety.
In response to former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s remark that BJP leaders have dreams, Jaiswal retorted that the BJP dreams big. He emphasized that his party envisions a developed India by 2047, aiming to make the country a global leader and implement welfare schemes for the poor. He quipped that perhaps Baghel dreams during the day, leading him to feel that way.
When questioned about the recent cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Jaiswal criticized the Congress party’s approach. He claimed that the politics of Congress and some other parties is limited to gaining power. According to him, these parties lack clear principles and discipline, which often leads to rebellions when leaders do not receive ministerial positions or tickets.
Regarding the potential responsibilities for Chhattisgarh leaders under the new BJP national president Nitin Naveen, he stated that this is entirely an organizational matter, with decisions made by the central leadership. He assured that the party leadership is continuously focused on Chhattisgarh and will make appropriate decisions when the time comes.
On the plan to launch a Chief Minister’s helpline number, Jaiswal mentioned that the government’s goal is to hear and address public issues directly. He stated that the toll-free helpline would provide relief to the public and enhance trust in the government. Often, issues do not reach the Chief Minister, but this system will allow them to connect directly with the administration.
Responding to Congress’s proposed training camp, Jaiswal remarked that it is an internal matter for the Congress. He noted that the Congress regularly organizes padyatras (foot marches) and training programs, but he sarcastically added that in states where Congress has conducted padyatras, they have later faced political setbacks.
When asked about the ‘Cockroach People’s Party’ protest in the national capital, the minister commented that various political experiments occur in the country from time to time, which may create temporary confusion but lack a lasting foundation. He asserted that the public is fully aware and understands such organizations and their objectives.
