Chef Ranveer Brar Advocates for Fresh Produce from Local Markets

Mumbai, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Celebrity chef and actor Ranveer Brar is making headlines with his quiz show, “Yes Chef,” which has received a warm response from viewers. In a recent interview, he shared valuable insights on maintaining food quality and freshness at home.

Brar emphasized the importance of shopping at local markets to ensure that fresh produce reaches our kitchens and dining tables. During a promotional event for his new streaming show in Andheri West, Mumbai, he noted that the rise of quick delivery apps has significantly changed our shopping habits.

“I believe the first step is to buy directly from local markets,” he stated. “If we are talking about freshness, this is crucial. Many of us have stopped visiting vegetable markets. The convenience of apps that deliver groceries in ten minutes has altered our entire shopping culture. When you see fresh vegetables in a market, you truly appreciate the value of fresh food. You might order a small packet of cabbage online, but you won’t enjoy it in the same way.”

He added that while quick delivery apps can be useful in emergencies, making it a daily habit to purchase fresh vegetables from local markets is preferable. Additionally, he suggested that cooking only what is necessary can reduce leftover food in the fridge. This approach not only minimizes food waste but also lessens the pressure on family members to consume leftovers quickly.

Brar’s advice comes at a time when concerns about food quality and safety are on the rise. In recent months, authorities in Maharashtra have taken action against food adulteration and violations of food safety regulations. Under the leadership of Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, inspections and enforcement actions have intensified, particularly regarding milk adulteration and synthetic milk.

On July 30, 2026, a ban was imposed on the production, storage, transport, and sale of non-dairy or analog cheese for one year. This measure aims to prevent such products from being sold under the guise of real dairy cheese and to ensure that consumers have access to safe food products.
