Dehradun, May 14: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand’s renowned Char Dham Yatra is on track to set a new record this year. Within just 25 days, the number of pilgrims has surpassed 1.26 million.
There is immense enthusiasm among devotees for the Kedarnath Yatra. In just 22 days, over 523,000 pilgrims have visited the Kedarnath shrine. Given the challenging weather conditions in the high Himalayan region, the state government is closely monitoring the climate. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed top officials to ensure the safety and comfort of every pilgrim during adverse weather.
The faith and devotion surrounding all four shrines are palpable. The Yatra commenced on April 19, and by May 13, a total of 1,260,478 pilgrims had visited the Char Dham. This includes 523,582 at Kedarnath, 324,081 at Badrinath, 205,425 at Gangotri, and 207,390 at Yamunotri. On Wednesday alone, over 8,401 pilgrims visited the four shrines, with Kedarnath seeing the highest number at 32,423, followed by Badrinath with 21,260, Yamunotri with 13,403, and Gangotri with 13,315.
Despite the challenges of the Kedarnath pilgrimage, the number of visitors continues to break records. The enthusiasm among pilgrims is fueled by the reconstruction of Kedarnath under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, along with efforts by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami to ensure a safe, convenient, and comfortable journey.
Looking at official figures from the past four years (2022 to 2025), a total of 6,945,487 pilgrims have visited Kedarnath. This includes 1,564,248 in 2022, 1,958,863 in 2023, 1,653,581 in 2024, and 1,768,795 in 2025.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized, “The safety and comfort of Char Dham pilgrims are our top priorities. To facilitate smooth visits, we have enhanced slot management and crowd control systems. A real-time digital monitoring system is in place. Following the reconstruction under PM Modi’s dream project, Kedarnath now appears divine and grand. Improvements to the trekking routes have made it easier for pilgrims. The government is taking every possible step for a safe and organized journey, and a special monitoring system has been established to keep an eye on weather conditions. We are prepared for any situation.”
