Meerut, July 19: A female doctor was tragically murdered at a private hospital in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have arrested the nurse’s lover and his accomplice in connection with the crime. It is alleged that they mixed a toxic chemical into an IV drip to carry out the act.
Officials reported that the incident occurred in the Lohiyanagar area of Meerut. CO Sangram Singh stated that on Saturday, police received information suggesting the nurse had committed suicide by ingesting poison. Local police quickly arrived at the scene to investigate.
Initially, the case appeared to be a suicide, as sulfur tablets and a suicide note were discovered at the location. However, the victim’s family raised doubts about the handwriting in the note, suspecting foul play.
Investigations revealed that the hospital employee, Suresh, and the nurse had been in a romantic relationship for the past 7-8 months. It was also found that the nurse’s husband had passed away about a year ago, leaving her to support her family and children through her job.
According to police, Suresh is also married and has a five-year-old son. The nurse had been pressuring him to marry her, leading him to conspire with his accomplice, Farhan, to commit the murder. CO Sangram Singh noted that CCTV footage captured Suresh and his friend on the day of the incident.
Police reported that when the nurse complained of weakness, she was taken to the operating theater under the pretext of receiving an IV. There, a toxic chemical was injected into her, resulting in her death. CCTV footage showed Suresh leaving the room while wearing gloves.
After the incident, the two suspects allegedly attempted to mislead the police by writing a fake suicide note on a notepad and placing it near the body, along with the sulfur tablets, to make the case appear as a suicide.
CO Sangram Singh confirmed that upon their arrest, the suspects confessed to their crime. The police have recovered the suicide note, notepad, chemical substance wrapper, cannula, and the victim’s mobile phone for forensic examination. Further investigations are ongoing.
