Chandrababu Naidu Praises PM Modi at Raisina Dialogue 2026, Expresses Concerns Over Population Balance

New Delhi, March 7: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted India’s tradition of tolerance, dialogue, and cooperation during the Raisina Dialogue 2026 on Saturday. He emphasized that these values continue to guide the nation’s development.

He stated, “India has a rich tradition of tolerance and dialogue. Today, state and central governments are working together through cooperative federalism.”

CM Naidu noted that this collaboration is propelling India’s economy forward. He remarked, “India’s economy is already growing at over seven percent, with the potential to exceed ten percent in the future.”

He also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach and stressed the importance of consensus in governance. “Our Prime Minister focuses on building consensus on critical issues. Stability and agreement in policies are essential for long-term development,” he added.

Reflecting on his extensive political experience, CM Naidu asserted that stable policies and mutual cooperation are vital for sustainable development and global peace. He said, “It’s not just about satisfying stakeholders; the entire world should feel trust and happiness.”

During the same event, CM Naidu expressed concerns about the declining birth rate in South India and shared details about Andhra Pradesh’s new population management policy. He mentioned, “Many countries are already facing the challenges of an aging population. India currently benefits from a demographic dividend, which will last until 2047.”

He indicated that to maintain population balance, the average birth rate in India should be 2.1, while it currently stands at approximately 2.2. However, in South India, it is around 1.5, which is significantly low.

CM Naidu announced that for the first time, a state government has initiated a population management policy. If a family has a second child, the state government will provide financial assistance of ₹25,000 at the time of birth. For a third child, families will receive ₹1,000 monthly for five years to support nutrition and development.

He also discussed the benefits available to parents, stating, “We are providing one year of maternity leave. Fathers will also receive one or two months of leave for childcare. Raising children is a shared responsibility, and both husband and wife should participate equally.”
