Chandigarh Police Foil Terror Plot, Arrest Three with Suspected IED and Weapons

Chandigarh, August 23: Chandigarh police have claimed to thwart a potential terror plot by arresting three individuals linked to a case involving a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) and weapons. An FIR has been registered at the Sector 36 police station, and an investigation is underway.

According to police reports, the arrested suspects were found in possession of a suspicious IED and other incriminating materials. Initial investigations suggest that the suspects may have planned to carry out a terror-related incident in Chandigarh.

The Chandigarh police have reassured the public that there is no need for alarm or to pay attention to rumors. Security measures in the city have been intensified, and all necessary precautions are being taken.

Authorities have urged citizens to maintain peace and report any suspicious activities to the police immediately. To avoid compromising the investigation, further details regarding the case have not been disclosed at this time.

This operation comes at a time when the Punjab police‘s Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Amritsar has uncovered a network involved in smuggling weapons via drones across the India-Pakistan border.

In this case, two suspects were arrested, and authorities seized ten sophisticated pistols, magazines, and ten cartridges. Initial investigations revealed their connections to foreign handlers and plans to supply arms from across the border into Punjab.
