Panipat, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Khemraj Sundriyal, a Padma Shri awardee and a veteran in the handloom sector, extended his warm wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday, September 17. Based in Panipat, Sundriyal has dedicated nearly 60 years to promoting the art of weaving. He highlighted the long-standing struggle of artisans and weavers to gain recognition for their skills.
Reflecting on the state of the handloom industry in 1975, Sundriyal noted that it was facing significant challenges. However, he credited the Indian government for establishing training centers that have empowered weavers and revitalized the sector. He expressed gratitude to PM Modi for the recognition he has brought to artisans, stating that their talents are now acknowledged on both national and international platforms.
Sundriyal’s son, Ajay, shared that despite his father’s decades of work in the handloom industry, his skills remained largely unrecognized until now. The family felt immense pride and joy when they received the news of Sundriyal’s nomination for the Padma Shri from the government.
In his message, Ajay thanked PM Modi and the Indian government, wishing the Prime Minister a happy birthday. He emphasized that initiatives like the PM’s Self-Reliant India Scheme (Atmanirbhar Bharat) are crucial for empowering small businesses. The recognition of skilled artisans, he noted, sends a powerful message that hard work and talent can significantly transform the lives of ordinary families.
