Mumbai, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The action-drama film “Andar Bahar,” which premiered in 1984, marked the beginning of the iconic on-screen partnership between Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor. This Monday, the film celebrated its 42nd anniversary.
Jackie Shroff took to Instagram to commemorate the occasion, sharing clips from the film in his Stories section. He expressed his joy by stating, “The film Andar Bahar has completed 42 years since its release.”
Directed by Raj N. Sippy, “Andar Bahar” featured Shroff as Inspector Ravi Khanna, alongside Anil Kapoor as Raja, Danny Denzongpa as Shera, and Moon Moon Sen in pivotal roles. The film is a remake of the American movie “48 Hours.”
In the film, Anil Kapoor portrays a police officer determined to capture the dangerous gangster Shera, played by Denzongpa. To achieve this, Ravi seeks the assistance of a prisoner, portrayed by Jackie Shroff, who was once Shera’s right-hand man.
With permission from his superiors, the officer brings the prisoner out of jail for seven days. Together, they aim to expose Shera’s criminal gang, leading to a gripping narrative filled with action and drama, showcasing the excellent chemistry between the two lead actors.
Before its release, a dispute over credits between the two actors delayed the film for nearly eight months. Additionally, it clashed with B.R. Chopra’s successful film “Aaj Ki Awaz,” resulting in average box office performance. Nevertheless, this film marked the first collaboration between Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor, paving the way for their celebrated partnership in the 80s and 90s.
