CBI Uncovers Bank Recruitment Scam, Arrests Four Including GST Inspector

New Delhi, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has exposed a significant bank recruitment exam fraud ring, leading to the arrest of four individuals, including a GST inspector. This network was reportedly operating under the radar in various states, including Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, and West Bengal, facilitating impersonation during exams and interviews.

According to the CBI, the operation was initiated following a complaint from the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, which led to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR). The CBI’s Special Task Branch in Mumbai conducted simultaneous raids across multiple states, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects.

The investigation revealed that the accused were participating in different stages of the bank recruitment process, posing as genuine candidates. They infiltrated the selection process from written exams to interviews, undermining the integrity of public recruitment.

The CBI emphasized that such fraudulent activities not only compromise the fairness of recruitment exams but also rob hardworking candidates of their opportunities. Preliminary investigations indicated that the gang had a widespread presence and was systematically abusing the examination system. The agency is now looking into the roles of other individuals connected to this network.

Interrogation of the four arrested suspects is ongoing, and the CBI has not ruled out the possibility of further arrests in connection with this case. The agency continues to investigate and identify other suspects involved in the recruitment scam.

In a separate case, the CBI recently arrested a sanitary inspector working for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation on charges of bribery. The inspector allegedly demanded a bribe of 1.4 million rupees in exchange for processing pending and future bills for a contractor’s firm. The CBI set a trap based on a complaint and caught the inspector red-handed while he was accepting the first installment of 500,000 rupees.

The investigation into both cases highlights the CBI’s commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring the integrity of public service recruitment processes.
