CBI Files Case Against College Trustee and Faculty Member for Alleged Bribery

New Delhi, August 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against Pratik Mori, a trustee of Nobel Ayurvedic College in Junagadh, Gujarat, and faculty member Dr. Abhay Nalavade. They are accused of attempting to bribe a member of the hearing committee of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) with ₹10 lakh.

According to the FIR, NCISM appointed Dr. Rupali R. Mahadik, the principal of Prabuddha Ayurvedic Medical College in Lucknow, as a member of the hearing committee. She was tasked with investigating 13 teachers from Nobel Ayurvedic College, suspected of being fictitious.

The FIR states that on August 18, Dr. Abhay Nalavade allegedly contacted Mahadik via WhatsApp, offering a bribe in exchange for a favorable report regarding the teachers. Following this, the complainant informed Dr. Mukul Patel, the chairman of NCISM’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Indian System of Medicine (MARBISM). The FIR indicates that he advised Mahadik to maintain contact with the individual to gather evidence.

Furthermore, the FIR claims that on August 20, trustee Pratik Mori allegedly spoke with Mahadik and promised ₹10 lakh in exchange for clearing the names of all 13 teachers. As Mahadik refused to accept the bribe, she submitted a handwritten complaint to the CBI on August 21, requesting legal action against Mori and Nalavade.

The FIR also mentions that an initial covert investigation revealed that Mori and Nalavade had proposed and promised ₹10 lakh to the complainant for clearing the names of the 13 teachers. During the investigation, Mori reportedly promised to deliver the bribe in Delhi on August 22. The CBI has registered a case for alleged criminal conspiracy and bribery of a public servant.
