CBI Arrests Principal and Middleman in Bribery Case at Itarsi School

Itarsi, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made significant strides in a bribery case involving the principal of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Itarsi. On October 8, 2026, authorities apprehended the principal and a middleman after allegations surfaced regarding improper financial demands.

The investigation began when the CBI registered a case against the principal, who was accused of soliciting a bribe of ₹300,000 from firms in Bhopal. These firms had been awarded contracts for renovation work at the school. The bribe was allegedly requested to facilitate the processing of pending bills associated with work orders issued through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

Acting on a complaint, the CBI set up a sting operation and caught the principal and the middleman red-handed while they were accepting the bribe. Following the arrests, CBI teams conducted searches at the residences and offices of the accused in Itarsi and Agra, seizing documents related to their properties. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

In a separate incident, the CBI also arrested the principal of an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Nuapada, Odisha, on similar bribery charges. The principal was accused of demanding ₹20,000 from a complainant to recommend an extension of their service as an Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM). After negotiations, he agreed to accept ₹12,000. The CBI caught him accepting the bribe during a sting operation on October 7.

The agency continues to pursue further inquiries in both cases.
