Punjab Police cracks narco-terror financial link
Earlier on Sunday, Punjab Police scored a major success in its ongoing campaign against narco-terrorism. The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in SAS Nagar uncovered a key financial link of an inter-state and cross-border narco-terror module by arresting a suspect named Satnam Singh. Initial investigations revealed that Satnam Singh played a significant role in facilitating terrorist funding. He reportedly used his bank account and UPI credentials to transfer illicit funds earned from heroin trafficking at the behest of a Pakistan-based drug trafficker managing the network.
The Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed this operation, stating that the intelligence-led action by SSOC SAS Nagar has exposed a crucial financial channel supporting narco-terror activities. The arrested individual allegedly helped route drug trafficking proceeds to terror financing through his financial channels as directed by the Pakistan-based operator.
This development highlights the concerted efforts by security and law enforcement agencies to dismantle complex drug trafficking networks that also fund terrorism, ensuring the safety and security of the region.
