New Delhi, May 31: With just 21 days left until International Yoga Day, the Ministry of AYUSH in India has shared specific yoga practices and purification techniques aimed at helping individuals suffering from bronchial asthma. The ministry emphasizes that incorporating these exercises into a regular routine can enhance respiratory function and help manage breathing issues.
According to the ministry, optimal respiratory capacity is crucial for a healthy life. Every breath energizes both the body and mind. Any disruption in this natural process can affect daily activities. The ministry believes that proper yoga practices and a consistent routine can strengthen the respiratory system.
To assist those battling bronchial asthma, the ministry recommends specific exercises such as Jal Neti, Kapalabhati, Sutra Neti, Saral Matsyasana, Bhramari, and Bhujangasana. These practices aim to clear the respiratory passages, improve lung function, and make the breathing process more comfortable.
Jal Neti and Sutra Neti are included in yoga’s purification techniques. They help cleanse the nasal passages, providing relief to the respiratory system. Meanwhile, Kapalabhati is believed to activate respiratory muscles and enhance lung capacity.
Bhramari pranayama is considered beneficial for mental peace and stress reduction. Experts suggest that stress and anxiety can sometimes exacerbate asthma symptoms. Regular practice of Bhramari can help maintain a calm mind. Similarly, yoga poses like Bhujangasana and Saral Matsyasana are known to expand the chest, improve respiratory capacity, and enhance body flexibility. Consistent practice of these asanas can aid in better lung function.
Yoga experts assert that regular yoga practice not only promotes physical flexibility but also fosters internal strength and mental balance. These habits help eliminate blockages, increase endurance, and bring positive energy into life.
Experts encourage individuals to incorporate yoga into their daily routines. However, they advise those with serious health conditions to consult a yoga specialist before starting these practices.
