Ramnagar, February 16: A bomb threat targeting the courts in Ramnagar and Nainital, Uttarakhand, caused widespread alarm on Monday morning. An email sent under the name of the ‘All India Judges Association’ claimed that 12 RDX bombs and IEDs had been planted in the judges’ chambers.

Reports indicate that this threatening email was received by the district judge of Nainital and other courts in the area. The email warned of an immediate evacuation of the court premises. It also mentioned a demand to halt the EWS reservation in Tamil Nadu. Following the threat, police and administrative authorities sprang into action.

Heavy police presence was deployed at the courts in Ramnagar, Nainital, and Haldwani. All court complexes were evacuated, and public access was restricted.

Police, along with dog squads and bomb disposal units, conducted thorough searches at the scene. Courtrooms, judges’ chambers, lawyers’ offices, and the entire premises underwent extensive scrutiny. Security agencies meticulously examined every suspicious location; however, no suspicious items were found by late evening.

The threat disrupted court proceedings throughout the day. Lawyers, judicial staff, and the public were evacuated from the premises. The area was cordoned off, and security measures were tightened.

Senior advocate Himanshu Agarwal stated that these precautions were taken for safety reasons, and agencies are investigating the matter seriously.

A cyber team is working to identify the sender of the email and trace its source. The administration assured that the situation is being monitored closely and that there will be no negligence in security.
