Bhopal, February 13: On Thursday, police discovered the decomposed body of an unidentified woman packed in a tin can inside a septic tank located in a residential colony of the Nishatpura police station area.
The police received information in the evening about a can floating in the water inside the septic tank. A team promptly arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of local residents, retrieved the can.
Upon opening the can, authorities found the decayed body of a woman. Initial assessments suggest that the body may have been placed in the septic tank three to four days prior. As of this report, the victim has not yet been identified.
Due to the inability of local residents to recognize the victim, police believe that the crime likely occurred elsewhere, and the body was subsequently disposed of in the septic tank. Efforts to confirm the woman’s identity are ongoing.
Manoj Patwa, in charge of the Nishatpura police station, stated that the body has been sent for post-mortem at Hamidia Hospital, and a case has been registered.
Patwa added that the investigation will cover all angles, including questioning nearby residents and reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
The septic tank is located in the Housing Board Colony, a densely populated area of the city. Police sources indicated that a notorious criminal hub known as Irani Dera is situated nearby.
Notably, Bhopal police conducted a large-scale search operation in the Nishatpura area on Tuesday night, during which over 40 individuals, including women, were detained in connection with various criminal cases registered across different states. This midnight operation involved more than 400 police personnel, including nine Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs). The investigation is ongoing.
