Ayodhya, June 28: In a significant development in the alleged donation fraud case linked to the Ram Temple, police conducted searches at the homes of the eight arrested suspects on Sunday. During these searches, they recovered jewelry and important documents from the residence of Ramshankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu Yadav.
On Friday, all eight suspects were remanded to three days of judicial custody. They will remain in jail until June 29 and are scheduled to appear again in a local court on Monday.
According to police sources, cash and property-related documents were also seized from Tinnu Yadav’s home, which is connected to the temple management.
By Sunday evening, authorities aim to complete the assessment of the items recovered from all suspects’ homes to clarify what was found at each location.
Following this, the investigating officer will decide whether to request an extension of police remand for the suspects during their court appearance on Monday.
Officials report that items have been recovered from each suspect’s residence, and investigations and verifications are currently underway.
Earlier on Sunday, Tinnu Yadav’s neighbor, Tara Devi, expressed her belief in his innocence, referring to him as her “brother.” She stated, “He is a good person. He is being falsely implicated.”
In contrast, Krishna Nand Tiwari, a neighbor of another suspect, Anukalp Mishra, commented, “Whoever is involved in this case, even if it is my brother (Mishra), should face severe punishment. They should be ashamed of their actions, as this is a matter related to God. They have betrayed millions of devotees’ trust.”
Another neighbor, Anurag, mentioned that he has known Mishra for about a year. He remarked, “He had a good nature. Whenever we met, we greeted each other. I cannot say whether he had any ill intentions.”
A total of eight individuals have been charged in connection with the alleged theft at the temple, and all have been arrested. An FIR was filed at the Ayodhya Kotwali following a complaint by Krishna Mohan, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The accused include Ramshankar Yadav, trust employee Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Avinash Shukla, and retired bank employee Subhash Srivastava.
This case was registered after a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) indicated multiple irregularities in its preliminary report.
Police state that the full details of the alleged theft will be revealed based on interrogations of the suspects and CCTV footage. If further involvement of additional individuals is uncovered during the investigation, action will be taken against them as well.
Preliminary investigations have revealed varying levels of involvement for each suspect, particularly focusing on Ramshankar Yadav, who remains under special scrutiny by the investigating agencies.
