Body of Ghaziabad Man Discovered in Ujjain Hotel, Police Investigate Possible Homicide

Ujjain, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : In Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the body of a 38-year-old man was found in a hotel room near the Mahakal Temple on Friday, leading police to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. The deceased has been identified as Mukesh Kumar, a resident of New Kotgaon in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He had arrived in Ujjain on September 1 with his friend, Vineet Goyal, to visit the temple.

According to police reports, the duo checked into the ‘Hotel Temple View,’ located directly across from the Neelkanth Gate of the Mahakal Lok Corridor. On Friday morning, hotel management alerted the Mahakal police after detecting a strong odor emanating from Mukesh’s room.

Upon arrival, police discovered the body in an advanced state of decomposition. The unpleasant smell prompted hotel staff to use air fresheners in the vicinity. A forensic science laboratory team was called to the scene to collect evidence and conduct a thorough investigation.

Gagan Badal, the Station House Officer at Mahakal police station, stated that the exact cause of death would only be determined after a postmortem examination. He emphasized that all possible angles are being explored, including the suspicion of homicide.

Police revealed that Mukesh and Vineet had been staying at the hotel for approximately two days. Staff members reported that the two often returned to the hotel after consuming alcohol. Notably, on September 3, Vineet settled the hotel bill and left without informing anyone, raising suspicions.

Badal noted that Vineet’s sudden departure, coupled with the discovery of Mukesh’s body, presents concerning circumstances. Search teams have been dispatched to locate Vineet, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding areas to ascertain whether anyone else entered the room.

The body has been sent for a postmortem examination, with further information expected following forensic analysis. Investigators are also confirming the sequence of events from the friends’ arrival in Ujjain on September 1 to Vineet’s departure on September 3.
