Quetta, March 19: The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for attacks in Kech district, resulting in the deaths of three Pakistani security personnel and injuries to four others. Local media reports indicate that the armed group also targeted a Pakistan-backed ‘death squad’ in Washuk district, killing three operatives.
In a statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahar M Baloch revealed that their fighters launched an assault on members of the state-supported ‘death squad’ in the Garari area of Washuk based on reliable intelligence.
According to the spokesperson, these death squads were harassing drivers by setting up temporary checkpoints along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway and extorting money from them. During this operation, BLF fighters surrounded them and opened fire.
Gwahar stated, “As a result of this operation, three death squad operatives were killed, and one was captured, who is currently in the organization’s custody.” He identified one of the deceased as Kahoor, alias Munn, from the Mashkay area of Awaran, while the identities of the other two remain unknown.
The captured individual has been identified as Chakar, son of Sher Muhammad, a resident of Nag (Washuk), and is currently being interrogated. The spokesperson alleged that this group was operating under the protection of local figure Ali Haider Muhammad Hasni and was involved in “anti-Baloch activities” at the behest of the state.
In a separate operation, Gwahar mentioned that BLF fighters coordinated an attack on a Pakistani army camp in the Malant area of Kech on March 16. He reported that the fighters surrounded the camp from multiple directions and used “B-10 rockets, sniper rifles, RPGs, and grenade launchers” for a close-range assault, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and serious injuries to four others.
The BLF spokesperson also noted that the fighters destroyed surveillance cameras at the camp and caused significant damage, while the injured were later evacuated by helicopters.
By claiming responsibility for both attacks, the BLF warned that anyone working against the Baloch movement would face dire consequences. These recent incidents come at a time when attacks by Baloch militant groups targeting Pakistani army and police forces have surged across Balochistan, leading to significant casualties and damage to infrastructure.
