New Delhi, April 19: Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani’s agency has raised concerns regarding the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The agency asserts that Muzarabani did not sign any official contract with the PSL before joining the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for IPL 2026. They have requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lift the ban imposed on him in the PSL.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Muzarabani’s agency, World Sports Exchange, clarified that there was no signed contract with any PSL franchise. Although Islamabad United reached out to him for the 2026 season, the agreement was merely provisional and contingent on receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Zimbabwe Cricket, which requires a valid, signed contract first.
The agency stated, “Blessing was contacted regarding the opportunity to play in the 2026 PSL, with the deal contingent upon obtaining the NOC from Zimbabwe Cricket. Without a PSL contract, the NOC cannot be issued. Despite public announcements, no contract was ever provided. You cannot breach a contract that was never given.”
According to the agency, “When KKR contacted Muzarabani on February 27 for a replacement signing for IPL 2026, he had no binding contract with the PSL, allowing him to accept the offer without violating any professional commitments.”
The agency further commented, “We believe that any ban related to participation in the PSL is excessive and does not correspond to the penalties imposed on players who have previously breached contracts. We request the PSL to gracefully lift the ban and acknowledge this situation as it stands. This is merely an administrative error on their part, and we hold no grievances against the PSL or Islamabad United.”
The PCB initially selected Muzarabani as a replacement signing for the PSL, with a reported deal worth 11 million Pakistani rupees (approximately 374,000 USD). However, he later withdrew and joined KKR as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman. Following this, the PCB took action and imposed a two-year ban on him.
