PBKS Continues Winning Streak, Defeats LSG by 54 Runs in IPL 2026

New Chandigarh, April 19: In a thrilling encounter of IPL 2026, Punjab Kings (PBKS) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 54 runs. Chasing a daunting target of 255 runs set by PBKS, LSG managed to score only 200 runs, losing 5 wickets in their 20 overs. This victory marks PBKS’s fifth win of the season.

LSG started their innings strongly, with Ayush Badoni and Mitchell Marsh forming a solid partnership. They added 61 runs for the first wicket in just 5.6 overs. Marsh scored 40 runs off 28 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes before getting out. Badoni contributed 35 runs from 21 balls, including 5 fours and a six. Captain Rishabh Pant also showed his form, scoring a powerful 43 runs off just 23 balls, featuring 1 four and 4 sixes.

Nicholas Pooran’s poor form continued as he was dismissed for just 9 runs. Aiden Markram and Mukesh Choudhary then built a crucial partnership for the fifth wicket, adding 60 runs off 33 balls, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. Markram scored 42 runs off 22 balls, while Mukesh remained unbeaten on 21 runs from 17 balls. In bowling, Marco Jansen took 2 wickets for 37 runs, while Arshdeep Singh, Vijaykumar Vaishak, and Yuzvendra Chahal each claimed one wicket.

Earlier, after losing the toss, Punjab Kings batted first, scoring 254 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. The innings did not start well for PBKS as Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed without scoring. However, Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly took charge, putting together a remarkable partnership of 182 runs for the second wicket off 80 balls. Connolly scored 87 runs from 46 balls, hitting 8 fours and 7 sixes, while Priyansh played a blistering innings of 93 runs off just 37 balls, including 4 fours and 9 sixes. Shreyas Iyer added 5 runs before getting out.

Marcus Stoinis contributed 29 runs off 16 balls, and Nehal Wadhera added 13 runs. In the final overs, Shashank Singh scored 17 runs off 6 balls. For LSG, Prince Yadav took 2 wickets for just 25 runs, while M Siddharth also claimed 2 wickets for 35 runs. Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan each took one wicket. This defeat marks LSG’s fourth loss of the season.
