New Chandigarh, April 19: In an exhilarating match of IPL 2026, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced off against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Maharaja Yadavendra Singh International Cricket Stadium. The PBKS batsmen made history by setting a new record score.
Batting first, Punjab Kings amassed a staggering 254 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. This score stands as the highest ever recorded against the Lucknow Super Giants by any team. PBKS broke their own previous record set last year, where they scored 236 runs against LSG with 5 wickets down.
The match witnessed an impressive display of power hitting, with PBKS hitting a total of 21 sixes. Priyansh Arya and Cooper Conolly formed a remarkable partnership, scoring 182 runs off just 80 balls. Conolly contributed significantly with a brilliant 87 runs from 46 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes. Meanwhile, Priyansh showcased his exceptional form, smashing 93 runs off just 37 balls, leaving LSG bowlers helpless as he struck 4 fours and 9 towering sixes.
This marks only the third instance in IPL history where a pair from Punjab Kings has shared a partnership exceeding 150 runs. Previously, in 2020, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal had a partnership of 183 runs against Rajasthan Royals. In 2011, Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh set a record with a partnership of 206 runs.
However, Prabhsimran Singh, who has been in excellent form this season, could not make an impact in this match, falling to Mohammed Shami on the very first ball without scoring. Captain Shreyas Iyer also had a disappointing outing, scoring just 5 runs off 6 balls. Nehal Wadhera managed 13 runs from 7 balls, while Marcus Stoinis contributed 29 runs off 16 balls. Shashank Singh added 17 runs from 6 balls.
