North 24 Parganas, May 7: Arjun Singh, a BJP leader and MLA from Naupada, responded to reports of post-election violence in Bhatarpara, demanding strict action. Actor Hiran Chatterjee advised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to wake up from her dreams.
Singh stated that as soon as the election results were announced, TMC legislators went missing. He noted that even TMC councilors are abandoning the party.
Regarding the violence following the elections, Singh suggested that the Central Forces should be authorized to use firearms. He criticized the BSF for not being allowed to shoot, resulting in continuous assaults. He called for the BSF to be empowered to control jihadists.
On the removal of security for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Singh questioned, “What does it mean to take away 2,000 security personnel? Is there a different law for her? Assume she is now a former Chief Minister. She should receive the protocol for that status. She is not even an MLA, yet former Chief Ministers receive protocol according to the law of the land.”
Actor Hiran Chatterjee remarked, “Mamata Banerjee is still living in a dream. She cannot comprehend that she has lost power. I urge Mamata didi to wake up, as the sun of BJP has risen. There is now a wave of Hindutva across Bengal. The public voted for BJP due to security concerns. For 50 years, West Bengal has lagged behind because every leader has been in conflict with the center. With BJP in power, West Bengal will lead in development in the coming days.”
Chatterjee added, “Under BJP’s governance, sisters and daughters will be safe, and every youth will be provided with employment. The TMC government created an atmosphere of fear here. Businessmen were scared, but now they can breathe freely.”
