Mumbai, June 17: Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chouhan expressed his lack of knowledge regarding Operation Tiger, stating, “I have no information about it.”
During a press interaction on Wednesday, Chouhan revealed that six out of nine MPs from Shiv Sena (UBT) have written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, indicating their desire to leave the party. There are also reports suggesting that some MPs may join the NDA. These discussions gained traction when Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs decided not to attend a meeting, signaling potential political upheaval in the coming days.
Chouhan asserted that it cannot be dismissed that the BJP is attempting to fracture regional parties. He pointed out that the DMK faced defeat in the elections, and there is ongoing discord within the Trinamool Congress, where 20 MPs have allied with another party. This indicates that the BJP aims to eliminate opposition parties nationwide, silencing any dissent. As Amit Shah has stated, their goal is to completely dismantle the Congress party. Unable to achieve this, they are now targeting parties allied with the INDIA coalition. However, Chouhan believes that Congress will withstand these efforts.
He further claimed that the BJP is advancing towards establishing fascism by undermining democracy. He urged the public to remember the sacrifices made by their ancestors to establish democracy. “It is time to intensify our movement to save democracy,” he said, adding that today could be considered a dark day for the Constitution.
Chouhan also commented on the recent incident in West Bengal, where over 4,000 EVMs were burned. He raised concerns that this act raises numerous questions, suggesting an attempt to destroy evidence. He noted that there is only a slight difference between TMC and BJP.
Additionally, he addressed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, criticizing the removal of eligible voters’ names, which he stated cannot be accepted under any circumstances. In light of this, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a campaign against the SIR.
