Gaya, August 22: Bihar’s Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha inaugurated the ‘Farmers’ Prosperity, Women Entrepreneurs, Youth Employment, Labor Upliftment—Agriculture Welfare Dialogue’ program on Saturday at the Haridas Seminary auditorium in Gaya.
During the event, he engaged directly with farmers, listening to their issues, suggestions, and expectations, and instructed officials to address these concerns promptly.
The program was attended by Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar, legislators, representatives, senior officials from the agriculture department and district administration, as well as farmers, youth, and women entrepreneurs. Farmers raised various agricultural issues, including fertilizer availability, sales at fixed prices, and timely supply.
Taking their complaints seriously, Sinha directed the Gaya District Magistrate to form a team within 24 hours to investigate the matters and report back to him. He emphasized that any irregularities discovered during the investigation would lead to strict action against the responsible parties.
He stated that farmers should not face any difficulties and that the benefits of government schemes must reach eligible farmers. The minister also inspected various stalls set up to inform farmers about modern agricultural technologies and government schemes. These included stalls on AgriStack, Farmer ID, fertilizers, natural farming, soil testing, digital agriculture, agricultural apps, drone technology, plant protection, marketing, export connections, farmer credit cards, crop insurance, crop assistance, horticulture, processing, advanced seeds, and organic certification.
Sinha remarked that the agriculture department’s schemes should not remain on paper but should provide real benefits to every farmer. To achieve this, officials at the panchayat and block levels will engage with farmers to inform them about the schemes and facilities available.
He stressed the importance of integrating technology, quality agricultural inputs, processing, value addition, and market access, rather than limiting farmers to just agricultural production. This approach can transform agriculture into a source of employment and entrepreneurship, with significant participation from youth and women farmers.
The Agriculture Minister stated that the purpose of the ‘Agriculture Welfare Dialogue’ is to listen directly to farmers, understand their needs, and ensure that the benefits of schemes and technical facilities reach the fields. He affirmed that the quick resolution of farmers’ issues and making the agricultural sector modern, profitable, and sustainable is the government’s priority.
He concluded by stating that the government is committed to achieving the vision of ‘Empowered Farmers, Prosperous Bihar, and Developed India’ through continuous dialogue and collaboration with farmers.
