Mohali, June 3: The newly appointed President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab, Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon, officially took charge at the party headquarters in Chandigarh. Central Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu attended the event and was welcomed at the airport. Upon arrival, Bittu announced plans to establish a ‘Double Engine Government’ in Punjab.
Bittu expressed his joy over Dhillon’s appointment, stating, “Today is a moment of great happiness for the BJP and Punjab. Sunil Jakhar has completed his term as the state president, and Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon from the Malwa region has been entrusted with this responsibility. The current government has done nothing for the Malwa area.”
He further noted, “With just four months left until the Punjab Assembly elections, Dhillon and the team are ready to hit the ground running. We will visit every constituency and aim to bring a Double Engine Government to Punjab, ensuring prosperity for the people. My intention is to work for Punjab in the Assembly. The lotus is our symbol, and it must bloom in Punjab as well.”
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh remarked, “The BJP is receiving tremendous support in Punjab. The people are blessing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and backing his leadership. Punjab is currently grappling with an economic crisis, a drug problem, and the dominance of mafias. Extortion and lawlessness are severely impacting the state. If anyone can liberate Punjab from this jungle raj, it is Narendra Modi’s Double Engine Government.”
Chugh also criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that she has led the state towards a jihadist mindset, resulting in violence and unrest. He emphasized that the public has responded to her authoritarian rule by voting her out of power, and her despair is evident. “Mamata didi must accept the people’s anger and their decision,” he concluded.
