BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Accuses Kejriwal of Double Standards and Ideological Bankruptcy

New Delhi, April 26: Bansuri Swaraj, a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday. She criticized Kejriwal for promising a simple lifestyle to the public while indulging in a lavish lifestyle herself, accusing him of practicing “double standards.”

Swaraj further claimed that AAP is exhibiting clear signs of “ideological bankruptcy,” especially after several founding members have left the party. Speaking to the press following the defection of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs to the BJP, she stated that while AAP initially presented itself as a political alternative, it has now become “old wine in a new bottle.”

“They emerged from the Anna Hazare movement, but later betrayed him,” Swaraj remarked. Regarding the seven MPs who left AAP, she said, “They have rejected the party’s anti-women politics, double standards, deceit, and lies.”

She noted that AAP’s pretense of being the party of the common man has failed in Delhi, leading to their ousting from power. Accusing Kejriwal of wearing a “mask,” Swaraj urged him to reveal his true self to the public.

Mocking Kejriwal’s infamous muffler, she added, “He only seems to cough right before elections.” Swaraj emphasized that while Kejriwal dresses like a common man, it is merely a tactic to deceive the public.

Reiterating allegations of a “glass palace,” Swaraj claimed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when people needed their Chief Minister the most, Kejriwal was busy building his “glass palace” with public funds. She accused him of misusing government resources for personal travel, especially after losing the Delhi Assembly elections, by heading to Punjab and living a luxurious lifestyle funded by taxpayers.

“Any helicopter, plane, or similar facility provided by the government is meant for official work, especially for a Chief Minister. However, Kejriwal used taxpayer money for personal travel, sometimes justifying it as election campaigning,” she stated.

Swaraj also pointed out that despite not being an MLA or Chief Minister, Kejriwal stayed in a former Rajya Sabha MP’s government residence. She insisted that Kejriwal had promised the people of Delhi he would never use a government vehicle or reside in a government-provided accommodation, yet he has done both, misusing public funds to build his “glass palace.”

“The issue is not about living a lavish life but about double standards,” she asserted, urging AAP’s leadership to engage in self-reflection following the mass resignations of its leaders.
