Chinas Marine Economy Shows Impressive Growth in First Half of 2026

Beijing, August 4: In the first half of 2026, China’s economy has continued its stable and positive growth trend. Key indicators in various sectors, including the marine economy and ecological environment, reflect the strong resilience and vitality of China’s economy.

According to the latest data released by China’s Ministry of Natural Resources on August 3, the marine economy achieved steady growth in the first half of the year. The gross marine GDP reached 55 trillion yuan, marking a 5.1 percent increase compared to the previous year. This growth rate surpasses the overall GDP growth rate of China, showcasing the robust flexibility in development.

Additionally, China’s supply capacity for marine products has consistently increased during this period. Domestic marine product production rose by 4.7 percent compared to the same timeframe last year, with marine fishery production increasing by 6.0 percent. The supply capacity of marine fisheries continues to improve steadily.

In the first half of this year, China has made significant efforts to combat pollution, resulting in continuous improvements in ecological environmental quality. Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has focused on reducing PM 2.5 concentrations and promoting ongoing enhancements in air quality.
