New Delhi, August 5: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of Delhi participated in an awareness workshop for public representatives on Tuesday, aimed at the TB-Free India campaign. She urged citizens, the corporate sector, and social organizations to join the fight against tuberculosis.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Delhi government is fully committed to achieving the goal of TB elimination. She noted that Delhi has consistently surpassed 95% of its annual targets for identifying and registering TB patients, as set by the central government.
Gupta stated that tuberculosis is now a completely treatable disease. With timely testing and complete treatment, patients can fully recover.
This event was organized at the Delhi Secretariat by the National Health Mission and the Delhi State Health Mission.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister remarked that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the TB-Free India campaign has transformed from a government initiative into a national movement based on public participation.
She highlighted that the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership has turned TB elimination into a nationwide public movement, requiring active participation from every citizen to achieve the set deadlines.
During the program, the Health and Family Welfare Department showcased a special video to raise awareness about TB. The Delhi State Health Mission presented detailed information on the achievements, current status, and future plans of the TB-Free India campaign.
The Chief Minister also inspected various information and awareness stalls related to the TB elimination campaign. She specifically visited a stall associated with the ‘Nikshay Mitra’ initiative, gathering information about nutritional support for TB patients, community involvement, public cooperation, patient rehabilitation, and digital support systems.
Gupta engaged in extensive discussions with officials regarding the campaign’s progress, the services reaching patients, and efforts to strengthen public participation. She instructed officials to effectively reach every ward, assembly constituency, and local area to ensure that as many citizens as possible can be part of this public movement.
Present at the event were Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, MPs, MLAs, councilors, senior administrative officials, health department officials, and other dignitaries.
