New Delhi, May 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced new state presidents for four states on Thursday. Central Minister Harsh Malhotra has been appointed to lead the party in Delhi, replacing Virendra Sachdeva. In Punjab, Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon takes over from Sunil Jakhar as the new party president.
Following this decision, both Jakhar and Sachdeva expressed their reactions. Sunil Jakhar thanked the party’s top leaders and extended his best wishes to Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon for his new role.
In a post on the social media platform X, Jakhar wrote, “Serving as the president of Punjab BJP has been a matter of great pride and responsibility for me. The trust shown in me by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the continuous guidance from Home Minister Amit Shah have been a constant source of strength throughout this journey. The organizational insights and direction I received from B.L. Santosh, along with the encouragement and support from Jagat Prakash Nadda and current national president Nitin Naveen, will always be invaluable to me.”
He added that the strength of Punjab BJP has always been its workers, leaders, and supporters across the state, whose loyalty and cooperation made this term meaningful and memorable. As this responsibility is now handed over to Dhillon, he expressed his heartfelt wishes and complete support. “I am confident that under his leadership, the organization will become even stronger and serve Punjab with greater dedication,” Jakhar stated.
Jakhar emphasized, “For me, the relationship with Punjab, its people, and the organization has always been above any position or responsibility, and this connection will continue with the same affection, commitment, and dedication.”
Meanwhile, Virendra Sachdeva congratulated Harsh Malhotra on his appointment as the president of BJP Delhi. “Under your leadership, the organization will establish new energy, strength, and dimensions of public service. I am fully confident that your experience and dedication will empower Delhi BJP further,” he wrote.
It is noteworthy that the BJP has made new appointments for state presidents in four states. Along with Harsh Malhotra in Delhi, Dr. Archana Gupta has been appointed as the president in Haryana, while Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon takes charge in Punjab, and Abhishek Debroy is assigned as the president in Tripura.
