BJP Announces Candidates for Maharashtra MLC Elections, Focusing on Pune and Nagpur Seats

New Delhi, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced its candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, set to take place in 2026. This announcement was made through a press release issued from the party’s central office in New Delhi on October 4.

The party’s central election committee has approved three candidates for the graduate and teacher constituencies in Maharashtra. The press release was shared by Tarun Chugh, a member of the Rajya Sabha and the party’s national headquarters in-charge.

According to the list released by the BJP, Dr. Smita Yogesh Jadhav will contest for the Pune graduate seat. For the Nagpur graduate seat, Sudhakar Vitthalrao Kohale has been nominated. Additionally, Kaustubh Murli Dhar Gawde will run for the Pune teacher seat.

This time, the BJP is focusing on candidates with strong connections among graduate and teacher voters. Dr. Jadhav is known for her appeal among educated women voters in Pune, while Kohale is recognized as an experienced leader with deep ties to the party’s organizational structure in Nagpur.

By fielding Gawde for the Pune teacher seat, the BJP aims to connect with the teaching community. It is important to note that only graduate and teacher voters participate in these elections, making the candidates’ educational backgrounds and their influence within teacher organizations crucial. The BJP has strategically selected these names to align with this dynamic.

This election marks the first significant Legislative Council contest since the formation of the Maha Yuti government in Maharashtra, prompting the BJP to leave no stone unturned in its campaign efforts. The party is expected to ramp up its promotional activities for these seats in the coming days.
