Patna, June 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its list of candidates for the 2026 Bihar Legislative Council biennial elections. The party’s central election committee has approved four names.
Among these, the name of popular Bhojpuri singer and actor Pawan Singh is generating significant buzz. This time, the BJP is placing its trust in candidates with political experience and social representation, alongside well-known faces.
According to a press release from the BJP, the candidates for the 2026 Bihar Legislative Council elections include Pawan Singh, Dr. Sanjay Mayukh, Anil Kumar Thakur, and Sheila Pandit. The list was announced by Arun Singh, the party’s national general secretary and in-charge of the headquarters.
Pawan Singh is a prominent figure in the Bhojpuri film and music industry. He has carved out a special identity among millions of fans across the country through his singing and acting talents.
The second candidate, Dr. Sanjay Mayukh, is regarded as one of the senior and influential leaders of the BJP. He currently serves as the party’s national spokesperson and co-in-charge of national media, and he is also a sitting member of the Legislative Council (MLC). Given his experience and organizational contributions, the party has once again placed its trust in him.
The third candidate, Anil Kumar Thakur, hails from the barber community and currently serves as the state vice president of Bihar BJP. His active role in the organization and social base have earned him this opportunity.
The fourth candidate, Sheila Pandit, is a leading woman leader and social worker in Bihar BJP. She is currently a member of the Bihar State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR). Given her active involvement in women’s empowerment and social issues, the BJP has also fielded her in the elections.
